Military cooks at Fort Benning in west Georgia a=were literally feeding an Army this Thanksgiving.

Officials at the Army post near Columbus served about 13,000 soldiers Thursday. It’s an undertaking that requires huge quantities of turkey and trimmings.

Army cooks prepared 1,800 whole turkeys for troops unable to make it home for the holiday. They’ll also served up 5,400 pounds of beef and more than 7,400 pounds of pork.

The huge feast was too large to be confined to one chow hall on Fort Benning, which had 20 dining halls open for the holiday.
