DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - U.S. Marshals in Atlanta said Thursday that were hunting for two fugitives in the brutal murder of a Stone Mountain woman in 2008. One of the fugitives had already been under arrest but escaped.

A DeKalb County murder suspect has been let out on bond and put on house arrest, only to escape. The U.S. Marshals said the suspect could be in real danger from one of the other people charged with the murder. Marshals said it would be better for them to find her first.

The two top fugitives U.S. Marshals hope to find are Emma Grant and Derrick Holmes.

Grant and Holmes are wanted in the death of 31-year-old Nekeshia Rawls. Rawls was gunned down in August of 2008 in front of her mother's Stone Mountain home.

"I heard this loud noise and I didn't even know what it was and it scared me. I didn't even want to look out," said Rawls' mother, Roslyan Lumpkin.

Rawls was shot 17 times. Police said evidence led them to charge Holmes as the alleged trigger man. Grant, Rawls' friend, was charged as an accomplice. Police said Grant lured Rawls out of the safety of her mother's apartment.

Lumpkin said her daughter's diary revealed her secret fears.

"The book had on the front of it written, 'If I die, Derrick Paul Holmes did it,'" said Lumpkin.

Investigators released new details Thursday about the connection between Rawls, Grant and Holmes.

"Emma Grant was a prostitute and Derrick Holmes was acting as her pimp," said U.S. Marshal Alex Camacho. "Yes we believe that Emma and Nekesia were both prostitutes under the control of Derrick Holmes."

Rawls' secret life was a painful truth her mother said she never knew.

Rawls' family said she left Holmes and moved into her mother's home, hoping she would be safe there. Police said they suspect that Rawls knew too much about Holmes' alleged prostitution operation for him to allow her leave. Police said Rawls may have even been a witness to violent acts he allegedly committed against others.

Grant has also tried to disappear. Grant was the only arrest made after Rawls' murder and was let out of jail on house arrest. In November of 2009, police said Grant cut her ankle monitor and ran.

Police suspect Grant may not have just run from the law, but from the lethal reach of Holmes.

"We believe that Emma is in fear of her life and if that is the case we urge anyone who is contact with Emma to get in touch with us and let her know to reach out to us and we can resolve the situation with her," said Comacho.

Grant has a tattoo on her neck that says "D.P." Police said the tattoo stands for Derrick's Property.
