FAYATTE COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A popular Fayette County teen was killed in a single car accident on her way to school Monday and now the driver is facing a laundry list of charges.

Investigators said three teens on their way to classes at Sandy Creek High School lost control of their vehicle Monday morning on Old Ford Road in Fayette County and hit a stone mailbox and a tree.

"That collision caused the rear passenger to be injured, [she had] some severe injuries [and was] transported to a local hospital where she later died," said Sheriff Wayne Hannah of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

Police said 16-year-old high school junior Angel Anthony, who was killed in the crash, was not wearing a seat belt.

The 16-year-old driver, Delsia Radlien, and a front seat passenger were both wearing seat belts and not seriously injured.

Radlien now faces misdemeanor charges, including second degree homicide by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane and a driver's license class d restrictions violation.

"She just obtained her driver's license in September. Having these two other passengers with her was a violation of her class D driver's license," said Sheriff Hannah.

Grief counselors were called in Tuesday at Sandy Creek High School to help students cope with Anthony's loss. School officials said Anthony was a popular student.

Some parents said the accident called attention to the inexperience of young drivers.

"I understand this is tragic for this girl and her family and of course the driver. They should be celebrating a state football championship, for the sheriff's office as well to see something like this happen. The driver is not being charged as an adult and all the charges are misdemeanors," said Sheriff Hannah.
