There was vocal opposition Monday night to a proposed Marine Corps high school in DeKalb County. The school would be publicly funded and some critics weren't too happy about the school.
The military academy turned into a controversial issue for DeKalb County. The plan calls for creating a Marine-run, publicly funded high school.
DeKalb County superintendent said he thought the school could help struggling students.
Some DeKalb County residents said they were being kept out of the loop and with public dollars the at stake the community should have a say.
The Marines will be paying for half the school's budget.
Opponents said that money comes out of recruitment and shouldn't and that other military high schools across the country haven't been a success.
Supporters of the school disagreed.
