Eight baby owls abandoned during a Kansas snowstorm are having a hoot in protective care.
The baby great horned owls were left on their own last week when a fierce snowstorm killed their mom. They were rescued and turned in to the Raptor Center in Cheney, Kansas.
For now, they're staying warm and eating dozens of mice. If they stay healthy, the owls could be released back into the wild within the next two months.
"These are all healthy babies," said Ken Lockwood, Raptor Center owner.
"I feel like Octo-dad. And these are my Octo-Owls. So Octo-Mom has nothing over me," he added.
The center is hoping public donations will help cover the $30-a-day expense to care for the owls.
