The Washington Nationals are off to a 1-10 start -- the worst in the majors -- but something more embarrassing than losing happened to them this weekend.
Their two most prominent players, outfielder Adam Dunn and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, had the team name misspelled on the front of their uniforms.
Nationals was misspelled "N-A-T-I-N-A-L-S" on both players' jerseys ( see pictures ).
The uniform mishap made national headlines, something the team's play on the field couldn't do, according to the Washington Times .
This isn't the first time professional sports teams have had "uniform malfunctions." Some of the more notable ones include the New York Rangers botching superstar Wayne Gretzky's name on the back of his jersey in 1997, Blue Jays slugger Joe Carter taking the field in 1994 with the city name on the front of his jersey spelled "T-O-R-O-T-N-O" and Aaron Harang taking the mound in 2005 for the Reds with the first "i" in Cincinnati missing on his uniform.
