If you're shopping in Times Square in New York City this holiday season, you'll be relieved to know that there will be friendly faces greeting you at some of the restrooms.

Reuters reports that five people have been chosen as meet-and-greeters at 20 restrooms. The contest was sponsored by toilet paper maker Charmin and features bathrooms that have been decked out with televisions and iPods that they can enjoy during their visit. The ambassadors' job is to greet visitors with a friendly smile and blog and tweet about their experiences.

The contest winners believe that people in the area will appreciate the hospitality at the restrooms. "There's nothing worse than being in New York and having to go," said Annie Paulson, a 31-year old cellist who landed a job. "I often find myself buying cups of coffee that I don't want in order to feel justified to use a restroom in a coffee shop. Or I'll try to look like I know where I'm going and walk into a hotel."

The winners also included a comedian, 31; a children's theater teacher, 32; a former office administrator, 32; and an unemployed woman, 62. All of them will receive $10,000 for six weeks of work. They reported for duty on Monday at the bathrooms at 1540 Broadway.

Finding a clean bathroom in New York City isn't easy. But one site has suggestions of places you can try .
