NASA says a spacecraft that was intentionally crashed into the moon has turned up the best evidence yet of water.
Scientists have been analyzing a mile-high plume of debris kicked up by the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite last month after it crashed into a crater near the moon's south pole.
They presented preliminary data Friday showing the presence of water in the crater.
Over the past decade, scientists have found some hints of underground ice on the moon's poles.
