DETROIT - A deaf rapper in Detroit has a passion for music that has helped him overcome his disability. Now, Sean Forbes is living his dream, thanks to a record label that helped launch Eminem.
"Yeah, people said no to me, but I knew that I wasn't [going to] take no for an answer. I just kept going at it," said Forbes. "There was a time in my life, when I said I'm deaf and I'm [kind of] depressed about it, and I thought that I would never be able to overcome that. Then one day I woke up and I was like, 'you know what, I'm [going to] be like this for the rest of my life I might as well own it and move forward from there.'"
Forbes has worked hard for every precious moment of it and he just signed a huge record deal.
"I'm signing with the people that discovered Eminem and the great amazing producers. I've been working with Jake Bass, the son and nephew of the producers who founded Web Entertainment," Forbes said.
When it comes to the future, Forbes said the sky is the limit.
"It doesn't matter what disability you have, you can do anything you set your mind to. I mean if a deaf person can go into music, the possibilities are endless," said Forbes.
