ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - There was a big homecoming Tuesday night at the Atlanta airport for a family who had to overcome the volcanic ash cloud and the Russian government in order to bring their new daughter home.

Allison and Zackary Boman adopted a child from Russia and traveled to Moscow to pick the baby up so they could bring the child back to the United States.

Five days ago a volcanic eruption in Iceland sent an enormous ash cloud over Europe, wreaking havoc on air travel.

The Bomans finally arrived back in the U.S. with 2-year-old Rebecca. This was the couple's second trip to Russia to pick up their adopted daughter. The first time, the Auburn, Alabama couple was sidelined by winter storms in the U.S.

The Bomans were also able to finish the adoption paperwork just a week before Russia suspended Russian-American adoptions when a U.S. woman put her adopted Russian son on a plane back to his homeland last week with a note disowning him.

The Bomans, who have family in Atlanta, said they were incredibly lucky to finally be able to bring their daughter home.
