ATLANTA (AP) - A routine search for stolen goods at Spalding County house turned up a stolen Civil War cannon. Now investigators have to determine who owns it.
There is no shortage of takers.
State officials say the gun belongs to them. Atlanta representatives say it's the city's. Federal officials say it could be the U.S. Army's. And then there is Arkansas, where the cannon was once helped train cadets.
Investigator Josh Pitts told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he's waiting on the proper paperwork to determine the owner. But he says one thing's for sure: He's not likely to come across another cannon in his law enforcement career.
