Atlanta's largest homeless shelter is without water. The city shut off service at the Task Force for the Homeless building in midtown.
Tuesday, the people running Atlanta's largest homeless shelter will head to court hoping to get the water turned back on at the Pine Street facility.
This after the city Monday shut off of the spigots -- citing a lack of payment.
Everyone agrees the Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless is behind in its payments, $22,000 on one water meter and $147,000 on another.
But community leaders want Mayor Franklin to cut the organization some slack.
More than 500 people stay the facility every night.
The mayor's policy advisor on the homelessness said church, social service organizations and other shelter will have to absorb those people.
But community organizers -- who gathered Monday night to show support for the shelter -- said if the city tries to close the place, it'll have a fight on its hands.
