SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - A man is due in court Thursday, accused of letting a once beautiful Sandy Springs home turn to ruins.
Conditions at the property on Mount Vernon highway were so deplorable the home had to be condemned.
Pictures of the home -- taken two weeks ago -- showed the property in ruins. The pool was filled with murky water and debris. Trash and feces were in practically every corner of the house.
The house -- owned by Tony Curry -- said he bought the home three years ago from an elderly woman who lived there with a male friend.
She has since moved to a nursing home, but the male companion stayed behind in the home -- along with at least one dog and 10 cats.
The homeowner said he tried to evict the man twice, but couldn't get him to move out because he didn't have a formal contract with him. The resident was finally forced to move by the city.
Now the property owner is responsible for clean up and all fines, which include 15 violations and possible sanctions of $1000 a day and six months in jail.
Neighbors said they were appalled by the situation.
Every day, in more than a dozen communities across Georgia, people are protected…
