LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A 25-year-old mother of two was hit by a car and killed in her own Lawrenceville neighborhood Sunday. Witnesses said the woman was trying to get a driver to slow down. Police said the driver was intoxicated.
Sabrina Stanek, a single mother, now leaves behind two children, five siblings and her mother and father.
Family members said Stanek was a good mother, who was kind-hearted and loved to helped people.
Police said 39-year-old Constantin Toncz hit Stanek when she walked to the curb to tell him to slow down.
"She was trying to keep [her] kids from being killed," said Stanek's mother, Donna.
Police said Toncz was charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
Donna Stanek said the young mother was one of seven children and was her second child to die. Stanek said she will care for her daughter's children.
