With floodwater receding, Georgia's Department of Transportation has reopened Interstate Highway 20 through Fulton, Cobb and Douglas counties.

Portions of the highway had been closed for several days when water from flooded Sweetwater Creek covered eastbound and westbound lanes.

The interstate was reopened in both directions shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The DOT says several state highway bridges remained closed. Those included the Georgia 92, Georgia 166 and Georgia 34 bridges over the Chattahoochee River and the Georgia 6 bridge over Sweetwater Creek.
