Hiram Bank Robbery Suspects Tracked Via GPS

HIRAM, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Two suspects wanted in connection with a Hiram bank robbery were arrested Tuesday at an Atlanta apartment complex. Authorities say they were able to track the suspects thanks to a GPS locator that was inside the bag of cash they took.

Authorities arrested 23-year-old Vernon Keith McDougald and 39-year-old Jemal D. Coleman at the Windsor Square Townhomes, which is located off Martin Luther King and Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

According to Hiram Police, a man went into the Bank of North Georgia on Highway 278 and presented a note asking for money. Police said the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, but inside the bag of cash was a GPS locator. That allowed investigators to track them down and make the arrests.

Police from several juridisctions were involved in trying to find the vehicle. After an initial stop on Interstate 20 which turned out to be the wrong vehicle , police tracked the suspects to apartments.

Police said the found the bag of cash in a gold Nissan that was parked at the complex.

The case is under investigation.
