Condo Fire Kills Woman, 2 Others Hurt

ATLANTA - A 28-year-old woman has been killed and her husband and daughter injured in a fire that destroyed several units of a Cherokee County condominium complex.

The blaze destroyed eight units at Lake Arrowhead on Mountain View Court near Waleska in Cherokee County.

Cherokee fire spokesman Tim Cavender said the fire broke out about 4 a.m.

The fire was fully involved when firefighters arrived, said Cavender.

One man has been flown to Grady Memorial Hospital with 2nd and 3rd degree burns, as well as broken bones after he and his six-year-old daughter jumped out of a window to safety. Authorities said the 6-year-old was not injured.

Another woman was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital with 1st and 2nd degree burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The names of the victims have not been released.
