FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Members of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office Tactical Narcotics Team raided homes in two Fayette County neighborhoods Wednesday searching for drugs.

Undercover agents stormed one Peachtree City home looking for drugs and it was a similar scene in Tyrone where narcotics officers moved in after receiving a tip of drugs at the home.

"This is the end result of what you see when we take off large drug busts. This is the street level, this is where it winds up the quantities you see on the street," said Lieutenant Jody Thomas.

Wednesday's operation came just days after the unit netted 958 pounds of marijuana and nearly 13,000 Xanax pills during a traffic stop on Highway 74.

For the officers involved in the raids, each operation's goal is the same and that is to put a dent in the drug trade.

Police said the misdemeanor arrests were as important as the major cases.

"I think you have to attack it at every level," said Lt. Thomas. "We're not going to tolerate dope at any level I mean small amounts big amounts if you are into it we are coming after you."

Police said they made two arrests during Wednesday's raids.
