ATLANTA - Northwest Georgia saw more severe weather. A tornado warning was issued for Chattooga, Walker and Dade counties Saturday night. For the rest of metro Atlanta, the concerns of rising creek levels are so dire in one community, people are being told they may have to leave their homes.
The heavy rain threat area remains generally north of a line from Columbus through Macon to Augusta.
From Wednesday through Saturday morning -- rainfall amounts of one to two inches with isolated higher amounts have fallen over the watch area. The ground is saturated with creeks and rivers now on a steady rise.
A trailing cold front associated with this system produced numerous showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain that moved across the state.
Runoff from these storms has cause some creeks and rivers in the watch area to go into minor flood.
A flood watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding especially along larger streams and rivers. If you are in the watch area keep informed and be ready for action if flooding is observed or if a flood warning is issued.
Every day, in more than a dozen communities across Georgia, people are protected…
