CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Kelvin Davis is a Clayton County man who has dreams to play in the NBA. Unlike most young, aspiring athletes, Davis is 49. This week, the Metro Atlanta man received the call of a lifetime.

"I'm getting ready to go to a NBA draft camp in Los Angeles, California," said Davis.

It's a dream come true for Davis, after nearly 30 long years of hopes and wishes.

"It's a big deal because I have worked hard for this all my life," said Davis.

Playing professional basketball was a dream Davis was determined to never give up on. Then last week he got the call. The NBA invited Davis to tryout for the NBA's Developmental League.

"I was trying to hold my composure. I was jumping up and down at the same time," recalled Davis.

A man of faith, Davis said he still couldn't believe his ears.

Camp starts on the June 19 and Davis will turn 50 just a few weeks later.

Davis said that during the rigors of the 4-day tryout it will be his faith that will pull him through, despite any and all pressure.

Davis said his strengths are defense and rebounding and he hopes both techniques will impress the scouts.
