UNION CITY, Ga. (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A freight train derailed in Union City Wednesday, causing about 17 cars to leave the track.
Union City police said the southbound CSX freight train derailed near Flat Shoals Road in Union County Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said the train was carrying coal and there were no hazardous materials aboard to cause concern for people in the area.
No injuries were reported as a result of the derailment.
There was no word Wednesday evening on what caused the train to derail.
