A court clerk was out of jail Thursday after being charged with stealing thousands of dollars from the town of Braselton.
Forty-seven-year-old Rebecca Skelton faces 14 counts of theft by taking.
Police said Skelton manipulated computer data and rerouted funds into her own account to the tune of $14,000.
Investigators said the money came from bonds and fines people paid for jail and traffic violations.
Braselton town manager Jennifer Dees said Skelton was fired for violating regulations within city government.
Dees said the criminal case will now go to the county's district attorney's office.
