ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - Three solemn ceremonies took place across north Georgia Thursday, marking the return of fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The three men were killed in the same battle in Afghanistan one week ago.

Family, friends and hundreds of others lined the streets to pay homage to the fallen heroes. The soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice for the country and their bodies made the final journey home.

The body of Staff Sergeant John Beale arrived Thursday evening around 6:00 p.m. Staff Sergeant Beale was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan last Thursday.

Hundreds of well-wishers along with family and friends also gathered in Rome to receive the body of Sergeant Jeffrey Jordan. The 21-year-old Cave Spring native was killed fighting in the same battle as Beale.

The Georgia Army National Guardsman is survived by his wife and the couple's 1-year-old son. Contributions to the family are being taken at the Coosa Valley Federal Credit Union in Jordan's name.

In Gainesville, full military honors awaited the body of Major Kevin Jenrette of Lula. Nearby roads were closed for a motorcade procession flanked by those honoring Major Jenrette's service.

People lined the streets with American flags in hand, waiting to honor the fallen hero.

All three soldiers are scheduled to be buried this weekend.
