1 Dead, 1 Injured in Newton County Shooting

Police said one woman is dead and another person injured after a gunman opened fire in Newton County.

Police have arrested a suspect, but haven't release much information on his relationship to the victims.

Sheriff investigators said the 911 call came in just before 8 p.m. Sunday.

When deputies arrived at the home on Bell Street south of Porterdale they found the victims and not long after that, the suspect.

The crime scene was large as detectives looked into whether the victims were shot outside the home.

No names have been released nor will detectives confirm the story family members are saying that this could be domestic related.

The surviving male victim was taken to a local hospital. His condition hasn't been released.
