MCRAE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating what caused a single engine plane crash that killed one and left another injured in McRae Wednesday.
Authorities identified the victim as pilot 60-year-old Daniel Joseph Marnell, of Douglasville. A passenger, 63-year-old Joseph Thomas Vance, of Carrolton, was airlifted to a Macon hospital with unspecified injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration authorities say the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. as the plane prepared to approach the Telfair-Wheeler Airport. The plane was flying from West Georgia Regional Airport, in Carollton, to the Telfair location.
An FAA spokeswoman says the crash involved a single engine Cessna 182.
