ATLANTA (AP) - The Obama administration's top-ranking energy official will discuss policy and tour Georgia Tech. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz will give a speech this morning and meet with Georgia Tech students and faculty to discuss their work on government-funded projects.

ATLANTA (AP) - Passengers were evacuated from a domestic Delta Air Lines flight after a "smoky odor" was detected in the cockpit and main cabin due to what was later determined to be a burned-out fan.

A Delta spokeswoman says the pilots detected the smoke while still on the taxiway prior to takeoff yesterday from Atlanta.

ATLANTA (AP) - Major League Soccer and Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed plan a "major announcement" today on a proposed expansion team to play in Atlanta's new downtown stadium.

Blank has long coveted a top-level soccer team for the city.

ATLANTA (AP) - A public memorial service is planned to celebrate the life of longtime WSB Radio and WSB-TV traffic reporter "Captain" Herb Emory. The public memorial is planned for 10 o'clock Saturday morning at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in east Cobb County. The 61-year-old Emory was helping at the scene of a car crash in Douglas County when he had a heart attack.
